Biography

L. H. Charles Lee received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University of Manchester, England, in 1987. In 1987 and 1988, he was appointed lecturer at the Hong Kong Polytechnic. From 1989 to 1991, he was a staff member of the Communications Research Group, Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Manchester, England, where he was involved in the design of channel coding and interleaving for the Pan European GSM digital mobile radio system. From 1992 to 2007, he was a staff member of the Department of Electronics, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He was involved in the under-graduate and post-graduate teaching of communication theory and error-control coding, and the design of channel coding and modulation for an indoor wireless LAN system. He was retrenched in August 2007. Currently, he is a Honorary Associate of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia. He is the author of Convolutional Coding: Fundamentals and Applications, Artech House, 1997 and Error-Control Block Codes for Communications Engineers, Artech House, 2000. His current research interests include theory and applications of error-correcting codes, and digital communications.
